Bridge still needs to be moved

The Covered Bridge On the River … Why? Long Grove again brings smiles to America!

I awoke this morning, not to the patter of reindeer hooves on my roof, but to the “wham, bam” of Long Grove’s covered bridge taking another hit to the chin.

You know it wouldn’t be a Christmas without another panel truck full of Santa’s presents wedging itself under Long Grove’s Covered Bridge. Oh, how my heart softens to know the holidays are here and the joy of common sense decision-making by politicians has been put on the shelf for a winter’s break.

Is there a way for us to put the bridge in foster care?

My free ice cream offer for all still stands — if there is enough left of the bridge to move to the park setting to protect it from yearly abuse.
