Fighting harmful prescription pricing

Even during periods of partisanship, there are issues that bring Congress together. This year is no exception, and Illinois patients are grateful to Rep. Brad Schneider for his bipartisan efforts to rein in and reform the abusive Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) industry.

PBMs, middlemen between patients and insurers, for too long have been permitted to prioritize their profit margins over medication access and affordability. Congress is united on the importance of ending PBMs’ vertical integration in the healthcare industry and holding them accountable for their abusive business practices.

Congressman Schneider has taken the lead in highlighting this issue with a letter to the U.S. Departments of Health & Human Services, Treasury and Labor, encouraging them to act and reinstate rules that would rein in the harmful schemes of PBMs. We appreciate Congressman Schneider’s efforts to advocate for Illinois patients and community pharmacists.
