Anticipating winter’s arrival, families line up to see Santa in South Elgin

Dozens of children and their parents lined up outside Santa's cottage and they were not disappointed when he arrived by fire engine during the “An Almost Winter Day” event at SEBA Park in South Elgin Saturday.

Santa greeted the kids then sat down in his chair to listen to Christmas wish lists and pose for photos.

In addition a visit with the big guy, activities included a s’more station, cookie decorating, a craft station, snowball slingshot, a tree decorating contest, an ice sculptor and concessions.

The village tree lighting ceremony was held at 5 p.m. at Panton Mill Park.
