Riverwoods dancers featured in the 36th anniversary production of ‘The Nutcracker’

Children and adults have been fascinated with the tradition and fantasy of “The Nutcracker” for decades. Over 70 dancers from Highland Park and other suburban areas will be performing. The Svoboda siblings — Aria, Brooke, and Sage — are a part of this remarkable cast of students that will perform various roles in North Shore School of Dance’s “The Nutcracker.”

This holiday season, the magic of The Nutcracker returns as the North Shore School of Dance presents its 36th annual production. Performances will take place at 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at Lake Forest Academy, 1500 W. Kennedy Road, Lake Forest.

Tickets are priced at $25. The production is suitable for audiences of all ages, with each act lasting just over 30 minutes. Early ticket purchase is recommended, as this show sells out every year. Order online through our website at Nutcracker Tickets.

Dancers from the North Shore and surrounding suburbs auditioned in August, over 75 were cast, and rehearsals began in September. The story is of Clara and her Nutcracker prince as they fight the Mouse King and journey through the snow to the Land of Sweets. This story is skillfully told by ballet dancers with enchanting magical sets and beautiful costumes that transport the audience into Clara’s world.
