Youth & Family Counseling and Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center join forces to increase access to mental health care
Youth & Family Counseling is proud to announce a new partnership with the Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center to expand mental health care services for child victims of abuse. The Lake County CAC offers a safe and supportive environment where children receive comprehensive services, including forensic interviews, counseling and advocacy, to support their recovery and ensure justice.
Through this partnership, YFC will provide a dedicated therapist to work directly with children who have experienced trauma, offering crucial mental health support as part of the healing process. The collaboration complements the existing model used by CACs across Illinois, in which children only need to tell their story once to a trained professional, ensuring that essential parties — including the State’s Attorney, DCFS, and mental health practitioners — are informed and able to support the child’s recovery. The inclusion of a therapist from YFC further strengthens this approach, ensuring mental health care is an integral component of the process.
YFC is a nonprofit mental health care provider with a mission to open doors to mental health care, enabling people to cope, heal and thrive. With offices in Libertyville, Gurnee, and Lake Zurich, YFC provides affordable, accessible and exceptional mental health services to hundreds of Lake County residents each year.
