Advocate Health Care hospitals receive high marks for safety

Advocate Health Care has received two “A” grades from The Leapfrog Group on its fall 2024 patient safety report card.

Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are assigned to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the nation twice a year.

The list includes Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.

We’re honored to receive an ‘A’ grade from the Leapfrog Group, which reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence in patient care,” said Karen Lambert, president of Advocate Health Care’s North Illinois Area and Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

Advocate Health Care is part of Advocate Health, the nation’s third-largest nonprofit hospital system.

Leapfrog awarded 19 Advocate Health hospitals an “A” rating for excellence in patient safety — the most received by the health system’s network from Leapfrog.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 22 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and information from other supplemental data sources. Taken together, those performance measures produce a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
