Gas N Wash plan faces big vote in Wheeling

The Wheeling village board on Monday is expected to approve the final development plans for a Gas N Wash station and other businesses on the 1700 block of West Hintz Road, at Old Buffalo Grove Road.

The roughly 4-acre site is on the village’s western border with Arlington Heights. A shopping center and a small service station were demolished to make way for the Gas N Wash.

In addition to the gas station, a convenience store, a liquor store, a car wash and a fast-food restaurant offering drive-through service are planned.

Residents opposed the redevelopment plan at public meetings, expressing fears about traffic, pollution, crime and other potential issues.

Monday’s meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at village hall, 2 Community Blvd. It will be livestreamed on the village’s YouTube channel, @wheelingiltv.
