Chicago man sentenced to 12 years for drug-induced homicide
A Chicago man was sentenced Tuesday to 12 years in prison for supplying a fatal dose of heroin and fentanyl to a Naperville man in 2022.
Shawn Smith, 33, pleaded guilty to one count of Drug Induced Homicide, a Class X felony.
Smith was indicted in November 2023 on nine counts of drug-induced homicide and two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, according to DuPage County court records. He had been in the DuPage County Jail since Dec. 7, 2023.
Authorities say Smith supplied the heroin and fentanyl on which Keagan Frasca, 23, overdosed Nov. 27, 2022.
Smith must serve 75% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
