Rules for RV parking coming to Des Plaines
Des Plaines officials are considering adopting parking rules for recreational vehicles.
The city council debated the issue Monday night but made no final decisions.
Des Plaines doesn’t regulate the storage or parking of recreational vehicles in residential areas any differently than other types of vehicles. Other towns do, with rules for motor homes, campers, trailers, all-terrain vehicles and more.
Aldermen informally agreed people shouldn’t be allowed to live in recreational vehicles in Des Plaines, a city spokesperson said Tuesday.
Additionally, parking on driveways should be OK as long as the vehicles don’t block sidewalks or roadways.
They also agreed people should be able to store recreational vehicles in side yards or backyards as long as they’re on hard surfaces, the spokesperson said.
Additional debate is expected at the Nov. 4 council meeting.
