Recommendations for judge posts
I am a 56- year Palatine resident, a former 24- year Palatine Councilman, 8- year Park District Commissioner, 4- year Police and Fire Commissioner and 6-year member of the Board of Health.
Judges sitting in our courts require our thoughtful consideration because once elected to the bench, they can remain seated for a long time, as judges in Illinois (unlike some other states) are never up for re-election. Many will stay seated until they retire. So, we need to choose them wisely.
Further, some of those already sitting on the bench may be up for retention. I have found six judges presently sitting that have specifically earned a “positive retention” vote as they have performed exemplary jobs. They are Hon. Judge Jill C. Marisie (the Rolling Meadows Presiding Judge), along with Judges Martin Kelly, Martin Agran, Colleen Daly, Thomas Mc Guire and Beatriz Santiago. So please mark each to retain them as they have earned your support.
Finally, regarding those running for the open vacant seats, I have taken the time to research each candidate for election including their education, legal experience, knowledge of the law and considering the recommendations of the various bar associations. Based on research and facts and not because of any political affiliation, , it is apparent that these individuals are most deserving of your consideration: Matthew Taylor, a graduate of John Marshall School of Law, a practicing attorney that represents the people of the village of Palatine, a former 23-year police officer and a University Professor of Criminal Law; Pamela Curran Smith a graduate of Loyola University Law School an experienced and very well-respected practicing defense attorney; and Maria McCarthy, a graduate of Kent School of Law, a long- time experienced attorney and a 30-year Assistant State’s Attorney. They are best qualified to serve as a judge.
