Hanover Township recognized for budgeting excellence
The Government Finance Officer Association (GFOA) presented Hanover Township with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the Township’s FY 2025 budget. This is the 13th consecutive year the township has received the award.
“Having a budget document that is easy for our residents to follow and read through has always been a basic tenet for the board of trustees,” said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor. “This award continues with our trend of open and honest government at Hanover Township.”
Guidelines from the GFOA are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and then 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.
“This is a rare and significant achievement not easily obtained across the different levels of local government,” said James Barr, Hanover Township administrator. “The award reflects the dedication of the township board, the finance committee, and the work of Hailey Matich and Nick Kalendr, the lead staff members who spent many hours compiling the documents.”
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving 20,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
