Music @ Bethel series begins its 26th year Sept. 28

Bethel United Church of Christ in Elmhurst opens its 26th “Music @ Bethel” concert series with a performance by vocalist extraordinaire Tatum Langley.

“Tatum Langley Presents A Walk Down 42nd Street” will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Bethel United Church of Christ, 315 E. St. Charles Road in Elmhurst.

The concert will showcase the music of Broadway, from the Golden Age to the present.

Tickets are $25 or $35 for VIP seating; students are admitted free. For tickets, go to www.musicatbethel.com.

The series continues on Sunday, Dec. 8, with “Stories Behind the Best-Loved Songs of Christmas” at 5 p.m.

Dramatic actress and vocalist Jenny Riddle will sing and share the fascinating stories behind the most beloved Christmas songs, based on Ace Collins’ book of the same title. The history of these cherished songs will come to life in Riddle’s engaging storytelling.

On Sunday, March 16, “Music @ Bethel” will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with The Galway Gals, featuring guitarist Liz Berg McNichols and violinist Anna Gillan, at 5 p.m.

The classically trained musical duo blends the best of traditional Irish folk music with songs by modern Irish pop artists. Showcasing jigs and reels as well as Irish sentimental classics, the Galway Gals bring a breath of fresh air to their audiences in this festive tribute to the beloved holiday.

On Saturday, May 10, Chamber Music at Bethel returns to close the 26th concert series season with “Music @ Bethel” artistic director Jeffrey Panko and friends at 7 p.m.

Presenting a variety of solo and collaborative music, ranging from Bach and Beethoven to Piazzolla tangos, Panko and his friends will fill the Bethel sanctuary with beautiful melodies fit for a summer evening.
