Man charged with setting Buffalo Grove fire
A Buffalo Grove man accused of setting fire last week to the home where he was living now is facing charges, officials said.
Evan Rude, 24, was arrested Friday on charges of aggravated arson, residential arson and arson. He was taken to the Lake County jail, where he is being held awaiting trial.
A resident of the home on the 900 block of Lucinda Drive reported the fire around 7:15 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.
Responding officers reported the occupants of the home, Rude among them, were safely standing outside the residence when they arrived.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but not before it had caused major damage. No injuries were reported.
After an investigation, police issued a warrant for Rude’s arrest.
In September 2023, Rude was charged with felony criminal damage to property after police say he set his mother's parked car on fire in the attached garage of a home on the 900 block of Lucinda Drive. Police said Rude was identified by surveillance footage walking up to the car before it caught fire.
Lake County court records indicate the charge was dismissed in November.
