Naperville police and fire host open house

The Naperville police and fire departments will host a public safety open house Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the city’s public safety campus, 1380 Aurora Ave. The fire department, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary, will conduct a water rescue and battle a flashover fire. Police will make a mock traffic stop and DUI arrest, showcase their K-9 unit and demonstrate how police use drones and tasers.

Participants will be able to see police and fire vehicles and equipment, dust for fingerprints with a crime scene detective, learn the basics of calling 911 from dispatchers and gather fire and crime prevention tips. Food also will be available for purchase from various food trucks.
