Vernon Township Food Pantry joins Buffalo Grove Farmers Market Sept. 29
The Vernon Township Food Pantry is excited to announce it will be featured at the nonprofit table during the Buffalo Grove Farmers Market, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, in Mike Rylko Park, 951 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove. This weekly event will provide an opportunity for local residents to support township families in need who utilize the Township Food Pantry, by choosing to donate fresh produce offered at the Farmers Market.
Community members are invited to stop by the Township Food Pantry table to learn more about how it serves the community. Visitors are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to the Farmers Market on this day to help stock the pantry’s shelves.
“We're thrilled to connect with the community at the Buffalo Grove Farmers Market to help residents learn more about how the township serves our neighbors in need,” said Vernon Township Supervisor Tim Kobler. “We are hopeful that our neighbors who are able, can bring donations to the market with them, or purchase fresh produce at the market to ensure we can help any individual or family in need.”
The Buffalo Grove Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., through Oct. 13. More than 30 vendors attend the market, offering locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as condiments, gourmet coffee and pastries. Activities for children and live music are also featured.
For those unable to attend the Farmers Market, donations to the Vernon Township Food Pantry are always welcome and can be made directly in the shopping cart located outside the township offices. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated.
