Antioch crash victim identified

The driver of a Pontiac Vibe who was killed early Monday after crashing into a tree on Grass Lake Road and Bluff Lane in unincorporated Antioch has been identified as 26-year-old Joseph Eli of Neenah, Wisconsin.

An autopsy showed Eli died from blunt force injuries suffered in the crash, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.

Eli was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle when it struck a tree about 4:45 a.m. authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team is investigating.
