One injured in apartment fire at Aurora retirement home

One resident was taken to the hospital after a fire Thursday night at the Plum Landing Retirement Home in Aurora.

Aurora firefighters responded to the two-alarm call on the 400 block of North Lake Street at around 9:30 p.m. and found a fire contained to a single apartment on the fifth floor.

One resident was found inside the unit and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Aurura in stable condition. No other injuries were reported, and no other residents were displaced because of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
