Dogs beat Milwaukee

Brady Miller pitched 6.2 innings of scoreless ball, and the Dogs got home runs from Jacob Teter and Marty Costes as Chicago took the opener of a critical three-game series with a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Milkmen.

The Dogs got on the board first in the second inning, as Costes hit the first pitch he saw over the left-field fence for a two-run homer, giving Chicago a 2-0 lead. Teter extended the lead in the third with his 24th home run of the season, pushing the lead to 3-0.

Milwaukee made a game of it in the eighth and ninth innings on a two-run single from Roy Morales and a solo homer from Griffin Doersching, but the Dogs earned their eighth win in their last eleven games. Miller gave up just three hits, with one walk and a career high six strikeouts. He retired fifteen straight and 17 of 18 at one point.
