Pressure lawmakers on driver’s tests
I totally agree with recent comments of Dorothy from Wood Dale regarding the unfair burden of a driving test every year for seniors. Since this is an issue only in Illinois, I have attended town hall meetings at my local library to meet and talk with my local state senator and representative.
I have brought up this subject, and I learned that if we the people, want to try to make changes in our state laws, the best way is to bombard our senators and representatives with our opinions and reasons for change.
Yes, it is great to write to The Daily Herald and get our opinions published. But we also need to send copies of our letters to our senators and representatives. The more feedback from us they receive, the more they feel pressured to act.
The legislature will be back in session in Springfield in November, and we all need to send our representatives letters and emails telling them how we feel, especially on this subject. We are only asking that all seniors be allowed to go back to road testing once every four years, just like everyone else in Illinois. (House Bill 4431)
