‘A great cause’: Tourney raises money for Schaumburg Park Foundation

Golfers teed off Wednesday at the Schaumburg Golf Club for a chance to lift the coveted Links Technology Cup, but the real winners are the kids who will benefit from the event.

The annual tournament, sponsored by Links Technology Solutions among others, is a fundraiser for the Schaumburg Park Foundation. The organization provides scholarships and grants so those in need can participate in recreational opportunities, and provides resources to preserve open space, culture and education in Schaumburg.

Foursomes competed to win the Cup, while individual golfers took part in longest putt, closest to the pin and longest drive contests. The day wrapped up with a dinner at Chandler's Chophouse.

Among the players was Sharookh “Sid” Sidhwa of Schaumburg, who golfed in a rare foursome made up entirely of left-handers.

“There's challenging holes, easy holes, but overall the quality of the course is so well done. It's greens are so beautiful,” he said. “It's just the perfect course for a day like this. And it's for a great cause as well.”
