Teter drives in seven but Dogs fall to Cleburne

In a wild, back and forth game, the Cleburne Railroaders overcame Jacob Teter’s home run, two doubles and seven RBI and walked off the Dogs, 11-10, in the first of a six game series.

In the bottom of the second inning, former Dog Jesus Lujano got the scoring started with a solo homer. The Dogs took the lead in the top of the third inning when Johnni Turbo drove home Chase Harris with an RBI single. They took the lead later in the inning when Teter knocked in a pair with a double, giving Chicago a 3-1 lead.

Cleburne took the lead in the fourth as seven straight batters reached base against starter Jake Carroll and the newest Dog reliever, Greg Duncan. The inning was punctuated with an RBI double by Hill Alexander.

Chicago cut into the lead on another Teter double and then took the lead in the sixth on Teter’s 20th home run of the year, a three-run blast, putting the Dogs up 9-7. Cleburne took the lead once more on a two-run triple by Shed Long and an RBI single from Thomas Dillard.

The Dogs again tied it in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by former Railroader catcher Gus Sosa, but in the bottom of the ninth, two walks and a single loaded the bases with nobody out and against Brian Schlitter. Korey Holland hit a grounder to shortstop Brantley Bell and Bell’s throw home was wild, allowing Brett Boswell to score and give Cleburne the 11-10 win.

The loss drops Chicago to 40-36 on the year, while Cleburn moves five games up on the Dogs at 45-31.
