Chicago man charged with Leach Drive shooting in Naperville

A 19-year-old Chicago man faces felony armed robbery charges for a Naperville shooting in April.

Kanyon J. Hardy was arrested on Wednesday and is being held in the Will County jail on three counts of armed robbery. A pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for July 29.

According to Naperville police, Hardy and a juvenile went to a residence in the 2500 block of Leach Drive around 1:30 p.m. on April 16. While there, a struggle ensued. A 22-year-old man, known by Hardy and the juvenile, was shot in the leg.

Hardy and the juvenile, who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting, fled the scene before police officers arrived. The 22-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

According to police, Hardy allegedly fired the gun, and the two offenders stole cash from the victim.

The juvenile was arrested the same day of the shooting and charged with aggravated robbery with a firearm. An arrest warrant was issued for Hardy, who was apprehended by Forest Park police on Wednesday.
