Ironic demands

I find it ironic, that in light of the recent attempt on Mr. Trump's life, disgusting, sad and vile as it was, that the Republican talking heads were quick to denounce the state of the political environment in this country. Shouts of, "be civil", “we need to unite", “this is not the United States of America", "rhetoric needs to be toned down", came raining down within a short time after the incident.

Innocent lives were needlessly lost at this event and my heart goes out to the families of those whose lives were cut short. No political candidate or active politician, whether Democrat, Republican, or Independent, should need to fear for their lives whether campaigning or performing the duties of their position. Mr. Trump did not deserve this; no politician or public official deserves this.

But one cannot deny that fact that the rhetoric that Mr. Trump chooses to use when he campaigns does not help and only adds to the toxic political environment we are witnessing today. Republicans need to understand before they provide knee-jerk reactions that they must "keep thine own house in order".
