Bee Taylor brings New Orleans sound to Hey Nonny

When an artist’s bio includes a snippet that they bought their first guitar from funds raised by taking pigs to market, you know you might be in for a unique experience.

For fans of a New Orleans sound featuring jazz, funk, roots and soul, the upcoming Bee Taylor show at Arlington Heights is a must-see.

Bee’s style is rooted in the sound of Dr. John, Howlin’ Wolf, and Tom Waits among others,” said Chip Brooks, co-owner of the Arlington Heights music venue and bistro.

“Her sound has been described as a unique experience of musical and lyrical gumbo, so if you are hungry for a serving of NOLA style entertainment, get your tickets now.”

Taylor hits the Hey Nonny stage at 7:30 p.m. on July 17. Tickets are on sale now at heynonny.com/shows/bee-taylor-2/.

Taylor hails from East Texas by way of Nashville. Ironically, she spent her last $100 on a piano to learn to play in Dr. John’s style only to find out later that very day that her musical hero had just passed away. Taylor is now recording and touring the U.S. with her band giving audiences a taste of New Orleans at every stop.

“We’re excited to welcome Bee to Hey Nonny,” Brooks said. “A hot, muggy July night seems to be the right fit for a New Orleans-style show. Who knows, we might end up with a Mardi Gras parade through Arlington Alfresco before the night is over.”
