Walters Park reopening in Carol Stream

Carol Stream residents are invited to the reopening of Walters Park, 970 High Ridge Pass, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. June 24.

The renovated park features a new pickleball court, a soccer field, a newly graded baseball and softball field with bleachers and dugouts, a new playground with synthetic turf, a crushed limestone walking path, ADA-accessible swings, and a bike rack. The parking lot also has been repaved.

The Carol Stream Police Department’s Blue Scoops ice cream trailer will offer free refreshments during the event.

The renovation was aided by a state Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant of $400,000, half the total expense.
