Consultant not necessary
The city of St. Charles is spending $118,680 for a consultant to tell them what to do with the former police station. This money could be used to improve the brick walk connecting to Pottawatomie Park.
Taxpayers expect their elected officials to make these decisions. We should not need to pay consultants.
This property has not been on the tax roles forever and it should remain that way. The best thing that could be done is tear down the building, remediate the site and transfer it to the park district. We need open land downtown, not more congestion from business development. I wonder what kind of decision this consultant was asked to come up with?
Do the right thing instead. Gee, who knows, maybe even an art show could go there instead of closing a city street.
