Anti-crime concert in Rockford to feature over 10 acts

ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - Members of the community are coming together to stage an anti-crime concert next month in Rockford.

More than 10 musical acts, including R&B singer Harvey Scales, will perform at the More Music Less Crime concert Dec. 12 at Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center. The Rockford Register Star (http://bit.ly/1SbmpDC ) reports that the concert aims to inspire young people to get involved in music and will benefit the Youth Against Violence Organization Drum and Drill Corps.

Democratic state Sen. Steve Stadelman of Rockford is helping organize and promote the event. Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center is donating the use of its concert hall.

Tickets are available for $10 at the door or on the performing art center's website.
