Railroad bridge work continues in Gurnee
Work is expected to continue through Friday, Jan. 15, on a Canadian Pacific Railroad bridge over Old Grand Avenue in Gurnee, according to village officials. The bridge maintenance project, which launched Dec. 21, will continue to require an entire closure of Old Grand between O'Plaine Road and North 1st Street to the east to ensure the public's safety and provide Canadian Pacific crews access to the site. The Canadian Pacific bridge maintenance project includes repairs to concrete ballast retention walls and an addition of a self-supported walkway for train crews operating at night. Access to Viking Middle School and Viking Park will remain open via eastbound Old Grand at O'Plaine.
