Sky rookie Cardoso will miss 4-6 weeks with shoulder injury
The Sky was dealt some rough injury news Monday. Rookie Kamilla Cardoso, the No. 3 overall pick in the WNBA Draft, will be sidelined at least 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury.
The team wasn't specific about the nature of the injury, just that Cardoso will be reevaluated in 4-6 weeks. By then, the Sky will be roughly one-third through the season.
Another rookie, second-round pick Bryanna Maxwell, will be out 3-4 weeks with a knee injury. The Sky play their second and final preseason game Tuesday in New York, then open the season on Wed., May 15 at Dallas.
Cardoso was injured in the first preseason game at Minnesota. The 6-foot-7 center from South Carolina played 13 minutes in that game, finishing with 6 points and 4 rebounds.
The Sky’s third rookie, forward Angel Reese, celebrated her 22nd birthday Monday by attending Sky practice in the morning, then the Met Gala in New York at night. Reese had 13 points and 9 rebounds in the preseason opener.
