Behavior analyst to talk to alliance on mental illness
National Alliance on Mental Illness Kane-south, DeKalb and Kendall Counties will have its annual meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Presence Mercy Medical Center, Main Hospital Building, McAuley Room, 1325 N. Highland Ave., Aurora.
A presentation by Autumn N. McKeel, Ph.D, a board certified behavior analyst, will explain the basics of behavioral analysis. Applied Behavior Analysis, previously known as behavior modification, is defined as the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors. This is often used for children's diagnosis of autism. There will be time for questions and discussion.
All NAMI KDK members and the public are invited to join this informative program and learn more about NAMI educational opportunities, support groups and advocacy. No registration is required for this free event. Coffee and light refreshments are provided.
A brief annual meeting will be held, after the presentation, for NAMI KDK members to elect board officers for 2015.
