Naperville Woman’s Club awards over $28,000 to local nonprofits and scholarship recipients

The Naperville Woman’s Club held its annual Celebration of Philanthropy and Education on Friday, April 19.

Club members honored area nonprofit service organizations and awarded educational scholarships.

Area service organizations honored included Families Helping Families, the club’s focus charity for 2023-24, which was awarded $8,000. For more information about Families Helping Families, visit www.famhelpingfam.org.

Other area organizations honored were Almost Home Kids, Brightside Theater, Humanitarian Service Project, Metropolitan Family Services DuPage, 360 Youth Services, Hope for Justice, SCARCE, and The Conservation Foundation. In all, over $16,000 was awarded.

Recipients of this year’s educational scholarships, totaling $12,000, were announced.

The scholarships went to the Naperville District 203 Education Foundation (Women in Trades), the Naperville North Education Foundation, the Indian Prairie Education Foundation District 204 (Fine Arts) and North Central College.

Nancy de la Hoz, president of the Naperville Woman’s Club, said, “Our club’s enduring commitment to Naperville can be seen in all the activities we support, from our signature event, the annual Fine Art & Artisan Fair, to our Witches Night Out Naperville fundraiser to our scholarships and support of local service organizations.

“For over 127 years, club members have volunteered their talents and time to make Naperville a better place,” de la Hoz said.

The local woman’s service organization has been promoting art, education, and community service in Naperville and the surrounding area since 1897.
