Waterloo police charge man in fatal November stabbing

WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Waterloo police say a 45-year-old man has been charged in a November stabbing death.

The Waterloo Police Department announced Thursday that Martez Smith has been charged with first-degree murder in Shawonyta Norman's death.

KCRG-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1ETl9Pz ) investigators say Smith stabbed Norman several times during a confrontation with him about Smith's previous assault on Norman's sister.

Smith remains in Black Hawk County Jail. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney yet.
