Springfield man sentenced for bankruptcy fraud

SPRINGFIELD - A Springfield man has been sentenced to 10 months in federal prison for bankruptcy fraud.

The State Journal-Register reports Michael Carr was sentenced Thursday and ordered to pay $7,750. The 51-year-old pleaded guilty in September 2013 to filing a bankruptcy petition that concealed property and included false statements to discharge his debts.

Carr admitted that he concealed ownership of a motorcycle, an SUV, four all-terrain vehicles and a motorcycle-related insurance claim.

Carr will remain on supervised release for three years after his prison sentence.
