Owner of gun used in killing of Detroit girl, 13, arrested
DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police have arrested the owner of an improperly secured handgun used in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old girl.
Officer Jennifer Moreno said Wednesday that the 45-year-old man is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Moreno says the man lives at the home on Lappin on Detroit's eastside.
No adults were home about 5 p.m. Tuesday when the girl was shot. Police have said she was babysitting other children.
A 14-year-old boy is believed to have pulled the trigger while playing with the gun. Moreno says the shooting is considered accidental.
