Indiana prison escapee surrenders in town 80 miles away

ELLETTSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - An inmate who escaped from a southern Indiana prison last week has surrendered to authorities in small town about 80 miles away.

State Police said 21-year-old Rodney Miller and his girlfriend surrendered without incident early Sunday in the Monroe County town of Ellettsville, about 10 miles northwest of Bloomington.

Miller escaped Friday night from the Henryville Correctional Facility and then walked away from the prison that's about 20 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky.

Miller was behind bars after being convicted of theft and receiving stolen property. He was set for released on May 3.

Henryville Correctional Facility spokesman Dennie Oxley says Miller and his girlfriend are being held in the Morgan County Jail.
