Indiana woman's estate sues driver in fatal June crash
PORTLAND, Ind. (AP) - The estate of a central Indiana woman killed last year in a collision between a motorcycle and a truck has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the truck's driver.
The suit filed last week in Jay Circuit Court seeks compensation from 65-year-old Luke F. Fullenkamp for medical, funeral, burial expenses, the loss of Vanessa Darnell's "love and companionship," and attorney fees.
Darnell, a mother of four, was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by her 50-year-old husband, Homer, on June 7 when it was struck by Fullenkamp's truck at a Jay County intersection.
The Darnells were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/1AGKlKi ) the suit filed by Vanessa Darnell's estate says Fullenkamp ran a stop sign at the intersection. He survived the collision with serious injuries.
