Indianapolis 13-year-old found shot to death

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police say a 13-year-old boy has been found fatally shot on the city's northeast side.

Police found Ashton Harting of Indianapolis lying on a sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene about 2 a.m. Monday.

WTHR reports detectives are questioning witnesses including Harting's 15-year-old brother and a 14-year-old friend.

Indianapolis police spokesman officer Rafael Diaz says it's "troubling" that juveniles were out so late. He says officers are trying to figure out why they were out and where they were coming from.
