Lake Minear fishing derby Saturday

The Lake Minear Fishing Derby will be held from 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, May 16 at the lake, located off Oak Spring Road in Libertyville. Operated by the nonprofit Libertyville Boat Club and with the help of volunteers, the beach has been operating since 1957 - a private lake stocked with pan fish and supported strictly by the memebers. The area has swimming, a picnic area and a concession stand. The lake will be open weekends starting May 24 and open full time June 9. For information, visit www.lmbeach.com.
