Former judge agrees not to serve in judicial capacity again

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A former southern Indiana judge has agreed to never again serve in a judicial capacity in exchange for officials ending an investigation into alleged misconduct involving his supervision of a drug court treatment program.

Former Clark County Circuit Judge Jerry Jacobi's decision means the seven-member Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications has ended it its probe of the county's drug court treatment program. A statement issued Friday by the panel says its investigation is considered closed unless Jacobi violates the agreement provisions.

The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Kentucky, reports (http://cjky.it/1GAeXfs ) that the panel looked into numerous allegations against Jacobi, including that he failed to supervise and train drug court staff, resulting in drug court participants spending additional time in jail.

Jacobi was defeated in the May Democratic primary last year.
