River Road work in Des Plaines starts Wednesday

The Des Plaines Public Works and Engineering Department has announced that Phase 2 of the River Road reconstruction project will begin Wednesday, March 25.

The project includes the total reconstruction of the roadway pavement, installation of new traffic signals, roadway lighting, curbs and sidewalks, and will take approximately 18 months to complete. During the reconstruction, River Road, from Touhy Avenue to Henry Avenue, will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution, allow additional travel time, and follow signage and detour routes. Project updates will be posted at www.desplaines.org/Construction.
