Indiana man caught, failed to return to jail after funeral
MADISON, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana man who failed to return to jail after being temporarily released so that he could attend a funeral is back behind bars.
Forty-one-year-old Curtis "Spanky" Wells was arrested Wednesday at a relative's home in the Ohio River city of Madison.
Jefferson County Sheriff John Wallace tells The Madison Courier (http://bit.ly/1Qx446G ) Wells initially didn't want to leave the relative's home but did so after officers talked him into surrendering.
Wells had faced two methamphetamine-dealing charges stemming from a September arrest. He was released from the county jail Nov. 14 under a court order allowing him to attend a funeral that day in Madison.
Wells failed to report back to jail that night, sparking a search for him. He now faces a felony escape charge.
