Elgin youth football team goes undefeated

A team from Elgin Youth Football and Cheer, known as the Elgin Bears, was undefeated this year, winning its Superbowl Nov. 11.

The Pac 10 Bantam team, made up of 7- and 8-year-olds, scored 46 touchdowns and only allowed six touchdowns in 12 games, said Todd Wood, president of the Elgin organization.

The team's head coach is Tony Brooks. This was his first season as head coach in the league, Wood said.

Elgin Youth Football competes in the Chicagoland Youth Football League, which bills itself as the largest independent youth football league in the country.
