Bone marrow donor drive in Hoffman Estates

The village of Hoffman Estates will be holding a Bone Marrow Donor Drive for several weeks in September.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 55, in good general health, and willing to donate to any patient in need, register to be the one to save a life.

From Monday, Sept. 14, through Wednesday, Sept. 30, stop by Health and Human Services at Hoffman Estates village hall, 1900 Hassell Road, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a cheek swab.

In the United States, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer every three minutes. A bone marrow transplant can be the best chance of survival for many patients.

While some patients find a matching donor in their family, approximately 70 percent rely on a stranger to step up and donate.
