Family Picnic, Rib Cook-Off Fundraiser This Sunday Hosted by C.A.T.I.F.
C.A.T.I.F. [Celebrating All That Is Feminine] has raised nearly $130,000 since the non-profit organization formed in 2009.
It was started by Kara Cermak, who reached out to her closest friends with an idea to fund already established non-profits who served women and children in crisis.

This coming Sunday, C.A.T.I.F. will host their 5th annual Family Picnic Rib Cook-Off in downtown Palatine.
The fun will include live entertainment, the Chicago Bears opener on a big screen TV, a bouncy house, dunk tank, and other kiddie-friendly entertainment. Admission is free.
There also will be a Rib Cook-Off, where the winner will receive a $250 cash prize and bragging rights until next year's event. Food and event tickets are $1 each.
The event starts at noon and runs until 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 13th on Station Street in front of Lamplighters.
Charity beneficiaries:
-The Palatine Opportunity ROLE Program, which empowers women to reach their full potential through education, employment, literacy and to become leaders for others within their community.
-The Well of Mercy, which provides a caring, cooperative home environment to single pregnant women with nowhere else to turn. Mothers are provided with personal and educational guidance, to build a poverty-free future for themselves and their families.
About C.A.T.I.F.:
-C.A.T.I.F. is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit public charity, and was formed by a group of professional women in the northwest suburbs in 2009. The idea was (and is) for the group to pool their resources, and 'Pay it Forward' to individuals experiencing crisis-which comes in many forms-domestic violence, homelessness, sexual abuse and other dire circumstances.
The overarching goal is not to provide a handout, but rather, a hand-up to empower and encourage those living through their darkest hours-to show them that others (even strangers) care about what happens to them. And, that they can change their circumstances if they are willing to believe that they can...
Over the last six years, C.A.T.I.F. has raised nearly $130,000 for various charities and organizations across the Chicagoland area-from a purely grassroots level.
