Des Plaines gets $283,919 federal grant

The Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a $283,919 Community Development Block Grant to the city of Des Plaines. The Block Grant program provides money to state and local governments for community needs like affordable housing and expanded economic opportunities. "These grants are vital to improving our communities," said Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth, who announced the grant. "Taxpayers of Illinois contribute more than their fair share to the federal government and I am pleased to see that resources are coming back to the 8th Congressional District."
