Lamb frustrated with U.S. Speedskating leadership
SOCHI, Russia - There's more dissension for U.S. Speedskating. Maria Lamb is taking aim at the organization's leadership after a last-place showing at the Sochi Olympics
The Americans have failed to win a medal in Sochi, with much of the focus on the high-tech skinsuits that were dumped midway through the Winter Games. Lamb says that's "just the tip of the iceberg" and the leadership of U.S. Speedskating is largely to blame for the team's problems.
Lamb made her comments after finishing 16th in the 5,000 meters Thursday.
She says some skaters "have raced better in spite of the organization rather than because of it." Lamb used an expletive to describe what the team has gone through and says, "Unfortunately, it came to a head that we could no longer perform well."
