Hit-and-run crash investigation leads to other charges

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Two people have been arrested on unrelated charges after authorities located a man accused of fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run accident in northern Indiana.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. says officers in adjacent Cass County, Michigan, executed a search warrant Friday afternoon after connecting the homeowner to a truck driven in the hit-and-run accident that occurred in St. Joseph County. Officers found two stolen vehicles, marijuana and methamphetamine at the home.

A 49-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail. Two children who were at the home during the arrests were taken into protective custody.

The South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1x7Uuzf ) reports the man admitted to driving the truck in the hit-and-run crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
