SWOSU, Harding, Ouachita players earn league honors
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Samantha Nunez of Southwestern Oklahoma has been named the offensive player of the week among Great American Conference women's soccer teams.
The senior from Pflugerville, Texas, scored three times last week, giving her 22 for her career and tying her school's career-scoring record. She had the game-winning goals against Northwestern Oklahoma and East Central Oklahoma.
Melita Sutherland of Harding was named defender of the week after playing all 90 minutes in shutouts against Oklahoma Baptist and Southern Nazarene. The Orange, California, junior had her third assist of the season - feeding her sister Bethany. It was the second time this year the two have paired up for a goal.
The goalkeeper of the week is Lauren Llanes of Ouachita. The sophomore from Argyle, Texas, had 24 saves during the week. The only goal she gave up was off a rebound after a saved penalty kick.
The honors were announced Tuesday.
