Genvea festively kicks off holiday season
Geneva's tree lighting and 47th Christmas Walk included a visit from Santa Lucia and Santa Claus, roasted chestnuts and carolers, and the opening of Santa's Gingerbread House. It was preceded by the Geneva House Tour, which kicked off Friday and continues from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at various locations in the city.
The city's Christmas tree at the Third Street Courthouse was lit Friday night to officially kick off the holiday season. A large crowd gathered around and under the giant tree and gasped with delight when it was lit.
Melissa Johnson of Elburn, brought her sons Kaiden, 6, and Beckett, 8 months, to the event. The family has been coming ever since Kaiden was born.
"We love it. It's a great family event, and the kids love to see Santa," she said.
