Flint Township officer, motorist shot during traffic stop
FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Flint Township police officer has been shot during a late night traffic stop.
Lt. Jim Baldwin tells (http://bit.ly/1xOV5QU ) The Flint Journal for a story Saturday that the shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. Friday as the officer scuffled with a motorist he had pulled over.
The 54-year-old motorist fired shots at the officer. The initial officer and backup officers returned fire, striking the motorist.
The wounded officer is in stable condition at an area hospital. The motorist's condition was not immediately available.
The extent of their wounds was not released.
State police are investigating the shootings.
